Slovenia is not the most popular travel destination and is certainly not known for its beaches and coastline. People who do visit here will usually head for the capital city of Ljubljana or Lake Bled, but few will head to the coast.
The Slovene Riviera (the Slovenian coast) stretches for about 30 miles in the Gulf of Trieste.
Now, that may not sound like much but it rivals most coastlines in terms of beauty. The crystal clear waters, sandy beaches and towering cliffs make this place a mini paradise for all who visit it.
And the great part is, since it’s relatively unknown, it’s not going to be too crowded like many other Mediterranean beach resorts.
A great place to stay here, is the seaside town of Piran.
It used to be a part of Venice. It still has all of the things that people love about the floating Italian city, but just without as many tourists.
Amazing Mediterranean architecture, delicious food and stunning walking trails are a few of the things on offer in the area.
It’s also possible to venture out into the water and go diving. There is a reef not too far out where you can see tons of exotic fish like sea horses and other aquatic wildlife.
I didn’t know a lot about Slovenia before writing this post, but after doing my research, it has definitely gone on my travel bucket list!
If you’re looking for a place to go on holiday or somewhere to travel to that isn’t jam-packed with tourists, hopefully this can be an option for you!
