As we’ve mentioned before in this post, going on a road trip can be one of the best travelling experiences. The freedom that you experience, the open road, the adventure! However, it can be quite challenging so we’re focusing on ways to make it easier for you. Here’s 10 road trip hacks to make road trips easier and more enjoyable.
1. Make Use of Hotel Breakfasts
As you know, lots of hotels offer a buffet style breakfast. Before hitting the road, make use of this breakfast and make yourself some lunch with it. You could easily whip up some sandwiches or something!
2. Get a Cooler
Get one of these cooler boxes and put it in the back of the car. You can store drinks and things in here and this will save you plenty of money, instead of constantly stopping off to buy drinks.
3. Make a Bin
It’s easy to use an old plastic cereal container and turn it into a portable bin for your car. It’s horrible having to clean your entire car out after a long trip. This will help ease that process!
4. Portable Chargers
In order to satisfy all road trippers, it’s a good idea to get a multi device USB charger. That way, everyone’s devices remain charged and everyone is happy!
5. Never Forget Where You Park
If you’re in a strange city, it can be quite tricky trying to remember where you parked and trying to find your car.
To make this easier, drop a pin on the map on your phone whenever you park. That way, you’ll always find your way back!
6. Take a Picture of Your Car
Another way to prevent losing your car. Taking a picture of it when you park will also help you when it comes to relocating it.
7. Use Glasses Cases for Storage
This was one of our tips for packing as well.
Glasses cases can be really useful for storing things like chargers and earphones. It saves you frantically looking around everywhere when you need one of them!
8. First Aid Kit
If you happen to have a small medical situation when you’re nowhere near a hospital (I’m not talking life-threatening guys), you’ll be glad to have packed a first aid kit. Just having things like plasters/bandages sun screen and some cream should be enough.
9. Travel Pillow
When you’re going on a massive road trip, chances are you’re going to get sleepy at some point. When that time comes, you’re gonna want a decent travel pillow to help you sleep in comfort!
10. Air Freshener
You want to keep your car smelling fresh for the duration of the journey, especially if you’re spending a lot of time in there. For this, you’re gonna want to invest in a lovely smelling air freshener!
11. Get an AUX
For those of you who don’t know what an AUX is, it’s short for “auxiliary input”. It’s a cable you can plug into your car and then connect to your phone in order to play music. It’s essential to have awesome tunes for a road trip!
If you don’t have an AUX cable or your car doesn’t have a plug for one, a portable speaker is a decent back up to have!
