I’ve been in a pretty food-oriented mood today, so I decided to just write about some of the best food in the world. Why not, right!? I’m going to be talking about street food today.
I went ahead and picked eight of the tastiest street food items in the world, the one rule is that there can’t be two foods from the same country on this list.
1. Jerk Chicken, Jamaica
I mentioned before that Jamaica is one of the best travel destinations for food lovers, and it is for so many reasons. One of the big reasons is jerk chicken.
One of their most famous dishes, this street food has a unique and unforgettable Caribbean taste to it.
2. Bahn Mi, Vietnam
Sandwiches can make for some of the best street food around.
Actually, scratch that.
Sandwiches are some of the best foods, period! And Bahn Mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) are tough to beat.
“Bahn mi” actually means “bread” or “baguette” and one of these filled with meat, veggies, and sauce….. oh man!
3. Poutine, Canada
I didn’t actually know about this Canadian favorite until recently, but it had to make this list.
Ideal for drunk nights out, or it would work just as well the morning after a drunk night out.
It’s basically french fries with melted cheese and gravy.
You can put your own twist on it though, as these guys do in this video.
4. Gelato, Italy
The first of only two desserts on the list and this is probably the most famous of the bunch.
Gelato is Italian ice cream. The difference between this and other ice cream is the fact that gelato is usually lower in fat, but higher in sugar.
It’s also well known for being the best!
5. Kebab, Turkey
Whether you’re drunk, high, sober, hungover, happy or sad, this food will make you feel better!
My personal favorite has to be the kebab meat coupled together with killer sauce and some veggies sandwiched between some warm, soft pita bread.
There seriously wouldn’t have been any point in making this list if I wasn’t going to include kebabs!
6. Tacos, Mexico
Okay, maybe I could have still made a list if these were on it!
Mexico is known for having some of the best street food on the planet and one thing you won’t be able to get enough of in Mexico are its tacos.
You’re able to get them from stalls and carts all over the place with a couple of the most popular types being tacos al pastor, which are paper thin tacos with pork and pineapple, and also tacos de canasta which literally means “basket tacos”.
7. Churros, Spain
The second, and final dessert on the list, churros are one of Spain’s most popular street foods and puddings.
They’re pencil shaped donuts covered in sugar and are often served with melted chocolate to dip them in.
Just gooey, sweet magic!
8. Okonomiyaki, Japan
Finally, we have okonomiyaki.
I felt I had to include street food from Japan.
Okonomiyaki is kind of like a savory pancake.
You can add what you like to it since “okonomi” literally means “to one’s liking”. So it’s pretty much just a selection of meat and vegetables cooked and fried in batter.
It’s so versatile and is definitely one of Japan’s tastiest foods.

That’s it for this list. Hopefully, you’re not feeling too hungry right now.
Seriously, food is one of the best reasons to travel. It’s really incredible to discover these new things and find foods you never knew existed before because a lot of it is really f*****g tasty!
Hope you have a good one, guys! Happy feasting!
